Empuriabrava could add in the coming months a new tourist attraction with a strong visual impact, with the proposal of a panoramic Ferris wheel aimed at strengthening the family leisure offer during the high season.
According to sources linked to the local tourism sector, the installation would be conceived as an experiential element, designed to offer panoramic views of the bay, the canals and the Costa Brava coastline. The objective would be to diversify the activities available beyond sun and beach, especially during the late afternoon and evening hours.
The project responds to an increasingly clear trend among well-established holiday destinations: incorporating iconic attractions that enhance the visitor experience and encourage longer stays. In this sense, the Ferris wheel is proposed as a complement to family tourism and couples, one of the main visitor profiles choosing Empuriabrava during the summer.
From the tourist accommodation sector, any initiative that expands the leisure offer is viewed positively, as it helps improve the overall perception of the destination. “Tourists are increasingly looking for experiences they can share, photograph and remember. A panoramic viewpoint of this kind fits perfectly with that demand,” say professionals in the sector.
Likewise, it is highlighted that the attraction could help boost commercial and restaurant activity in the surrounding area, especially during hours after the beach, encouraging a more balanced distribution of tourist flows.
At present, no timelines or final location have been confirmed, and the project is currently in the technical and feasibility assessment phase. Nevertheless, its mere mention has already generated expectation among regular visitors and tourism professionals.
From the sector, they remind that, as with many innovative proposals announced at the end of December, it is advisable to read the news carefully… especially when the calendar approaches 28 December
